As Career Counseling Manager at The University of Tulsa, I work with students and alumni to develop practical strategies for career exploration, job searching, networking, résumés, interviewing, and long-term professional growth.
My perspective comes from both sides of the hiring table.
Before joining higher education, I spent more than two decades in technology leadership, including serving as CIO/Director of Information Technology for Tulsa County. I led technology initiatives, worked with organizational leadership, managed complex projects, and experienced firsthand the challenges employers face when identifying and developing talent.
Today, I bring that employer-side perspective into career counseling.

A degree is an opportunity—not a guarantee.
Successful career development requires more than submitting résumés. Students need to understand their strengths, identify appropriate opportunities, communicate their value, build relationships, prepare strategically, and follow through.
Artificial intelligence is changing the job-search process, but it doesn’t eliminate the importance of human judgment, communication, curiosity, adaptability, and relationships. The strongest candidates will learn to use technology while continuing to develop the distinctly human skills employers value.
